One of Krutein's keen interests in his travels has been to
document the marvels of architecture through out the planet. Having
passed through Chicago many times he became enthralled with the
magnificent architecture that Chicago has become. This includes
both the well-known skyscrapers but of equal magnificence the
residential architecture that can be found through out the city.
After the fire devastated Chicago in 1871 building regulations
were changed to allow multistory structures. The first skyscrapers
were built here as well as some of the first apartment houses.
Architects such as Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler pioneered
new building styles. Frank Lloyd Wright worked in Sullivan's office
and would later design stunning buildings of his own. I personally
have had the pleasure of spending some time in Chicago taking
these pictures and find the world class architecture of this windy
city to be truly inspiring.
